About Me

Good food has always been my biggest passion. Since I was a child my mother – a teacher and excellent chef – she taught me how to cook. I learned everything that I know from her, everything about food and how to prepare it. From my father, an academic, I gained my thirst for knowledge and my talent as a businesswoman.

I left Ethiopia in 1997 after my education was completed, with a goal of exploring the world, until I finally ended up in Munich. My love for my country and for good food came with me and inspired to me open my own restaurant here on the Dachauer Straße in Munich – Restaurant Abyssinia Teff. The name refers to the first East African monarchy, the Abyssinians, that occupied the current Ethiopia and the cereal Teff, which is not only the most important grain in Ethiopia but also the basis of our national dish, Injera.
